Interview with Natural Health Therapist Zaneta Duskaite.
Zaneta’s
career in Health Care began when she trained as a nurse in
Lithuania.
After identifying and seeing various chronic diseases, for which
allopathic treatment was not completely successful, she decided
to switch fields and went into the art of natural medicine which
encouraged her to find more answers. After graduating in homeopathy
and Naturopathy at Regent’s College in London,
she furthered her studies in India
by getting skilled and acquainted with the treatment system of
a worldwide famous homeopathy doctor – Dr. Rajan Sankaran.
The Indian culture, true spirit and life of their people
was the final step in her discoveries which set the background
for a completely different understanding of the essence of the
human being in this stressful world.
Craig:
You were originally trained as a nurse - could you talk more about
why you decided to then pursue natural therapy?
Zaneta: Training in nursing gave me
the knowledge and skills to be aware of what western medicine
is capable in achieving. However I recognised that that allopathic
medicine did not always achieve and cure a disease fully. I felt
that allopathic medicine suppressed symptoms at times and thus
was not a cure for the problem. I also found that ongoing use
of allopathic medicine reduced the body’s natural immune system
which leads to further ailments developing in the body.
I decided to explore the use of
natural elements as a complementary or substitute for allopathic
medicine. I preferred this style as it not only used naturally
produced elements to develop the medicine, it also did not cause
side effects, like allopathic medicines, while strengthening ones
immune systems. I found that it gave permanent results to certain
problems that people had suffered for years…
It is healing of the mind which
is so important for human. If the mind is healthy the body is
healthy too!
There are so many conditions that
western medicine can not explain why they appear, the beauty of
natural medicine is that we don’t need to know reasons, we look
at the person as a whole and understand what type of personality
and what type of ailments they have and how they experience them
and how it affects them. I chose homeopathy and naturopathy for
all of these reasons.
Craig:
You are a trained in bodytalk, naturopathy, homeopathy. Could
you briefly talk more about these individual approaches and then
how they fit together.
Zaneta:
Homeopathy is currently used in over eighty countries worldwide.
The choice of a homeopathic treatment involves much more thorough
individualization. Each individual develops "his own"
flu, "his own" sore throat, and “his own" eczema,
that is, he will develop symptoms and modalities that are personal
and which the homeopath will take into consideration.
The aim during
a homeopathic consultation is to get into every individuals sensational
level, the deepest level of individuals mind, and prescribe the
remedy that works at that level. The deeper the level the better
results achieved. This is the most effective and most accurate
way in treating chronic conditions.
To complement
homeopathy, I use naturopathic advice (healthy diet, supplements,
and herbs) and also uses iridology to identify weaknesses in the
body and short ear acupuncture sessions if needed for various
conditions.
I have found
significant levels of success when combining these two approaches
to treat, patients suffering from any type of pain, emotional
problems such as depression, insomnia and stress.
Bodytalk is a new healthcare process which brings together
western and eastern philosophies. It is believed that the body
has the ability to heal itself on all levels. It is known that
poor health denotes an imbalance (lack of synchronisation) and
the bodytalk practitioner’s role is to recognise the current body-mind
functioning. Bodytalk practitioners communicate with individual’s
innate wisdom using kinesotherapy. This enables a practitioner
to identify indications of the innate priorities in the healing
process and synchronise and balance our bodies. Various techniques
are used to do the balancing.
So this is how they fit together:
I tend to use Naturopathy in support
of homeopathy .I concentrate on an individual’s case by obtaining
a clear picture of what their personality is and use a line of
physical examinations such as iridology, nail, pulse, tongue and
facial analysis.
By understanding the problem,
I determine what natural element supports this and give this element
in a certain dose (the remedy). I prescribe a homeopathic remedy
to the patients needs (identified through the summation of the
above listed analysis’s). In addition to this I suggest supplements,
oils, herbs, advice in their diet and if required recommend a
de-tox program.
Bodytalk is a very unique therapy.
It contains almost all these philosophies under one roof. I follow
the bodytalk protocol which enables me to find the inconsistencies
in the body, and to then balance these needs. These may be physical
or emotional.
The beauty of all those therapies
is that the whole person is treated and not the disease. I assess
each individual and each person responds in a different way. One
client may have the same ailment but may not require the same
remedy. These practices enable me to achieve a permanent result
rather than a temporary relief.
Craig:
Can you give us some tips and strategies for dealing with some
common conditions?
