"The Makers Diet" by Jordan Rubin

This month in nutrition I have introduced an elimination or caveman style diet.
It is not a new diet but it is effective in especially balancing blood sugar which most people have a problem with due to an over-consumption of processed grains - in particular white flour.

Its other aim is in helping people to develop an awareness of the effect certain foods have on them.

The Makers Diet also uses a similar structure with recipes. So for those planning on taking up the challenge, this book may help in learning more about this style of eating and provide some inspiration.

The author Jordan Rubin, a naturopath, has an incredible story coming back from the brink of death after developing Crohn's disease as a youth. He battles through every health practice/protocol with no benefit until he is introduced to a diet based on the bible.

Now Sunday school seems a long way from me but the food choices are common sense in my view. In short it comes back to eating whole foods and a variety of them including vegetables, fruits, animal meats, legumes, and a minimal amount of grains (especially the heavily processed variety).

Rubin puts his message into a 40 day plan to follow and includes information on exercise, relaxation and additionally borrows many recipes from Nourishing Traditions (by Sally Fallon), which is the nutritional bible in my opinion.
